SCCOOS has been the subject of or included in various
articles in different print media:
1) The monitoring and data support effort of SCCOOS
partners during the November 2006 Hyperion Treatment Plant discharge
diversion event was the subject of an article in the April/May 2007 issue of
NOAA’s Coastal Connections. See: http://sccoos.ucsd.edu/docs/
CSC_CoastalConnections.pdf
2) An article in the Spring 2007 issue of the NAVAIR
Range Department’s Air Time highlights the Navy’s collaboration with SCCOOS and Coastal Data Information
Program (CDIP) ocean monitoring programs and January 2007 visit by UC
President Robert Dynes of the Sea Range at Point Mugu. As part of a briefing on university
collaborations, President Dynes was briefed on the Navy’s partnership
activities with SCCOOS and CDIP. See:
http://sccoos.ucsd.edu/docs/0301_Spring07.pdf
3) The Ocean Institute’s Weather & Water 5th Grade Program, a SCCOOS supported educational outreach program was accepted
in Spring 2007 into a national publication. The paper will be a chapter in a
monograph/book on Exceptional Science Programs, scheduled for Fall 2007
publication, published jointly by the National Science Teachers Association
and the American Association of Science and Technology Centers. Recognition
of the program at this level is a significant honor
