RESEARCH OBJECTIVES AND SPECIFIC PLANS TO ACHIEVE THEM

Provide scientific and logistical support for two workshops for NOAA Fisheries’ Pacific Coast Ocean Observing System (PaCOOS) on ocean observing focused on coordination of existing (1) zooplankton survey and (2) data management coast-wide from Canada to Mexico. Participants include academic, government and industry scientists and support staff from existing programs. A second workshop on data management was postponed until 2008 and after the PaCOOS Board of Governors meeting at the request of the NOAA Program Officer.

RESEARCH ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Workshop on zooplankton survey coordination coast-wide was held September 25-26, 2006 at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a report summarizing the meeting will be finalized for the PaCOOS website (www.pacoos.org). Scientists from all six major zooplankton surveys attended: Canada DFO, PaCOOS (Newport) Line, PaCOOS (Humboldt) Line, PaCOOS (Monterey Bay) Line, PaCOOS (CalCOFI) Line, SIO LTER-CA Current, Mexico IMMECOCAL.
